Daniamant, a market leader in the marine safety and electronics industry, announces the global unveiling of its innovative RL8 Liferaft Lighting System at this year’s Shipbuilding, Machinery and Marine Technology(SMM) trade show, in Hall B6 on Stand 120, from 3 to 6 September 2024.
Further solidifying the brand’s positioning as being at the forefront of marine innovation and safety solutions, Daniamant’s RL8 features new LED technology to enhance performance, whilst reducing transportation costs for the customer. Marrying market-leading durability and visibility, Daniamant’s RL8 is built with high-intensity LEDs to ensure maximum visibility, even in treacherous weather, improving safety for maritime operations whilst withstanding extreme conditions, including saltwater, high pressure, and UV exposure.
The smallest liferaft light in Daniamant’s suite of marine safety lights for the shipping and maritime industries, the RL8 is half the size of the brand’s renowned RL6 model, comprising fewer lithium batteries due to improved electronic developments, providing enhanced performance and longevity of more than 12 hours illumination. The new RL8 is classed as Class 9, Section II of UN3091 by the International Air Transport Association(IATA), unlike its Section I counterpart, the RL6, allowing for simplified overseas transportation.
The RL8 is designed with two components - a sealed, steady internal light and a lithium battery which powers the external flashing LED light - a key advancement to increase reliability and reduce costs. The two units are connected by a polarised plug, for ease of service and replacement. The performance not only meets but exceeds International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Safety of Life at Sea(SOLAS) standards and is approved by SOLAS, Marine Equipment Directive(MED), Marine Equipment Regulations(MER) and United States Coast Guard(USCG) requirements. Both the internal and external lights can be separately switched to conserve battery power if required, with both lights dated for five years’ lifetime from the date of manufacture.
